Happy Birthday Dan

Good morning everyone and welcome to my blog, hope everyone had a lovely Easter Break.well many of you that follow Tonic know it's our Dan's birthday in the office on friday so I didn't want to send  him a card and a plain box of chocs so i thought i know make your own box and thought about the craft kit 8 and there it was a chest of draws but thinking of chocolate it had to be brown and cream so exploding box came to mind.
 Materials used for this project:-
Craft kit 8
Chocolate Brown craft perfect
Ivory craft perfect
Gold satin speciality card
Craft perfect Kraft card
Nuvo Classic gold embossing powder
Nuvo clear  ink pad
Heat gun
Anti static bag
Die cutting machine
Paper trimmer/ score tool
Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive
Scissors

The box size really depends on you if you want to make a 3 draw 4 draw or as I have done here made a 5 draw
First of all I created the boxes using craft kit 8 and as you will have seen from the girls on the DT who have created Videos with this kit they show you how to put these boxes together but basically you cut 2 x pieces  for the draw base and 2 x pieces for the wrap around for the draw they go together so easy. Then it's all up to you what panels you choose to decorate it in this set there are lots of different decorative panels to choose from.
Once I had 5 draws made up they were then glued one on top of each other to create a tower of draws.
Now I did write all the measurements down for this box but for the life of me can I find them nope but I think the measurements I have here are correct.

The exploding box the outer strips you will need 4x strips measuring the full length of A4 card x 4"and scoring  at 4" on all four strips these form your base and are glued one on top of the other the box was made like this to create a really sturdy base because once you add chocolate to each draw its heavy and you dont want it all to buckle under the weight.
The next strip is 11 3/4" x 3 1/2"  scoring at 3 1/2" and again gluing all the strips one on top of the other you can see now the base getting really sturdy and then the last four strips are 10 1/2" x 3"and again these are put together as before now it's time to decorate the strips you can do this before you glue it all together if it makes it easier these strips are decorated both sides just using strips of card in matching colours and using the Decorative dies in the set this gives the box sides strength. When you add the second row and 3 row of srips make sure these are glued with a border around the edge so you are placing them in the centre not flush score line to score line if that makes sense. The box lid was 4/12" square and scored at 1" all the way round the lid could be a tad smaller for a more snug fit but this worked ok for me.

In the box kit you have stamps and each stamp is added to the centre of each strip heat embossed using Nuvo clear  ink pad and the Nuvo classic gold embossing powder and heat set then cut out using the same die as created the draw handles and then distressed the Edges with a Nuvo brush and Nuvo brown hybrid ink pad, And then glued flat with the Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.
The lid to the box was decorated in the basic layering squares and Birthday wishes sentiment in ivory and gold satin speciality card  drop shadowed.and to finish a gift to you sentiment and tag was used from the original Kaleidoscope box set.
Hope you enjoyed the exploding box
Don't forget to watch our Paula and Jodie on Hochanda starting on Thursday with 10/12 days of birthday fun and lots of amazing products I think we will all be on jam sandwiches for the next month heehee xx
